SYBC & British Youth Bouldering Championships R2

Yesterday in Glasgow we held the Scottish Youth Bouldering Championships which was also round 2 of the British Bouldering Championships. It was an amazing day and as fine a comp as anyone had ever been to. As good as a world cup was one compliment passed on to TCA Director Paul. It has certainly taken youth competition in Britain to a new level.

It was great to see so many British Junior Squad members in attendance, wearing the the GB colours and providing inspiration to all the competitors. The standard was incredibly high and there were some amazing performances.

Due to a timing clashing with GCSE Exams, the TCA squad were unable to head north, but having finished his A levels, Bristol's Max Ayrton was lucky enough to travel.

Unfortunately Max sustained a finger injury during qualifying, and yet not yet having attempted 3 of the 15 problems, had still racked up enough points for the final. However showing a strong level of maturity. he decided wisely to withdraw and not cause further damage. Despite this, Max's consistency gives him a very strong case for inclusion in the British Squad.

There were a lot of tired but happy staff after the event and the biggest shouts have to go to Rob and Alan for putting on such an fantastic event. It takes an incredible amount of time and hard work to organise a comp this big and make it run so smoothly and they have really done TCA proud.
